NV-RCT Flex Current Sensor is made according to the principle of Rogowski Coil. It can work with oscilloscope and multimeter or work as a current sampler in some online test instruments. The BNC cable enclosed in this product is to connect with oscilloscope or multimeter.


The Flex Current Sensor is used in the special spots where the ordinary test instruments is difficult to use. It is flexible in narrow space, such as crowded lines, Aluminum /Cooper Wires, and mains current test. This Flex Current Sensor uses special flexible material as the framework, and is processed in special crafts. The phase error is small, the accuracy is high and the range is wide.



Rogowski Coil, also called Current-Measure Coil or Differential Current Sensor, is a round coil winded on non-magnetic material. The output signal is the differential of current to time. By a circuit to integrate the output voltage, the input current can be restored, i.e., U= M*di/dt, M is the mutual inductance, di/dt is the average current change. A complete Rogowski coil measuring system includes the Rogowski coil and the Integrator. With this specialized integrator, the output signal is integrated and converted into an AC voltage signal, this signal can accurately recur the waveform of the measured current signal.

To measure AC current , the measured frequency is from 2Hz to 2MHz, the current measured range is from 10mA to 1MA, accuracy is from 0.2% to 1%. This coil is with excellent instantaneous response character, it can measure conductors of large size or irregular shape. It is widely used in the current measurement where the current transformer is not suitable, especially the large current measurement. The output AC voltage current can be used on the equipment with input impedance over 10k¦¸, such as voltmeter, oscilloscope, instantaneous impact recorder or protection system. Rogowski coil is also a high frequency current sensor to observe the current or the signal of large variation and high current. It offers 2MHz bandwidth and can analyze the current in complicated modes, and fast shows the status of power supply and welding machines. Different from the magnetic current clamp meter, it is not restricted with the magnetic saturation, it offers good linearity, low phase deviance, and large dynamic range.

The Flex Current Sensor consists of the Rogowski Coil, the Integrator and BNC cable.See Picture 1.

  1. The Coil is used to acquire current signal

  2. The Integrator is to do the integration on the sampled signal and output the voltage signal.

  3. The BNC cable is to connect the Integrator with external measurement instrument.

See Picture 3. According to the current direction of the test conductor, let the free end of the coil circle the object. Turn the free end to make the convex aligned with the notch of the fixing nut of the connector and insert the free end; when it recovers to free status, it is locked. Connect one end of the BNC cable to the output terminal of the integrator and the other end to a measuring instrument. Turn on the power of the integrator, it goes into working status.

After the test, turn off the power of the integrator, turn the convex of the free end to be? aligned with the notch of the fixing nut, turn and get the coil out.See Picture 4
